Senior Care for Pets

Supporting your pet through their golden years with specialized care and monitoring.

As pets age, you may notice changes in their behaviour, eating habits, and new health concerns. Senior pets can require specialized care to help them continue living a healthy life. We offer wellness bloodwork and urinalysis to help monitor your pet's health as they age. It can help detect diseases early and extend the lifespan of senior pets. To book a wellness exam for your senior pet, give us a call at 519-683-4508.

At what stage is a cat considered a senior? How can I spot signs of aging in my pet?

Generally, cats are considered geriatric or senior at 7 to 10 years old. Signs of aging can include decreased activity, stiffness and reduced mobility, and loss of muscle mass or weight loss.

Why is my senior cat having behavioural issues?

Behavioural issues in cats, like aggression or inappropriate elimination, can be signs of pain or disease. If you have noticed a sudden change in your cat's behaviour, a physical exam with one of our veterinarians can help identify underlying conditions.

How should I care for my senior dog?

Specific care for senior dogs can include more frequent physical examinations (two times a year or more), high-quality senior diets, supplements for joint health, and more. The same is true for cats as well. If you have specific concerns for your senior pet - canine or feline – please call and book an appointment with one of our veterinarians today, and they can help customize a plan for your pet.
